Sacrifice of Jesus Christ

Sacrifice by Victor Bregeda – Limited Edition on Canvas

The time leading to Easter is known as Holy Week and is universally celebrated by all Christian denominations around the world. Throughout the years, Victor Bregeda created several widely-recognized paintings depicting the subjects of Holy Week, such as Holy Communion (the Eucharist series), the Lord’s Supper (Last Supper, Sacrament), Crucifixion (Lamb of God, Sacrifice) and many others (Faith Collection).

"Last Supper" by Victor Bregeda

Last Supper by Victor Bregeda – Limited Edition on Canvas

Last Supper is centered on the Communion table. The twelve disciples are pictured as vessels, the ancient amphoras that are soon to be filled with the Holy Spirit. In the background, Bregeda opens up another dramatic scene that is filled with the host of countless heavenly creatures as described in Revelation 5:11. Christ is ever-present, not only with His disciples, but with anyone who is willing to follow Him. Look carefully – in a dramatic fashion, the angels form a pattern that reveals the image of the Savior.

"Eucharist IV" by Victor Bregeda

Eucharist IV by Victor Bregeda – Limited Edition on Canvas

Eucharist IV is is arguably the most complete representation of the Eucharist series. Bregeda uses his surrealistic art to portray the image of the Last Supper, Jesus and the idea of divine love. The candle is the symbol of light and Christian faith, transforming into the image of Christ and The Twelve Apostles. Look carefully – the image of Jesus Christ can be seen in the flames of the Eucharist as the Apostles, bowing in devotion, are seen encircling the exterior of the candle.

"Lamb Of God" by Victor Bregeda

Lamb Of God by Victor Bregeda – Limited Edition on Canvas

Lamb of God by Victor Bregeda is a powerful painting that displays a portrait of Jesus Christ. Upon further review, we notice the three crosses present in the distance. An angel is present alongside Him. “Knowing that you were not redeemed by corruptible things … but by the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot; Who truly was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but was manifested in these last times for your sakes” (I Pet. 1:18-20).

"Sacrament" by Victor Bregeda

Sacrament by Victor Bregeda – Limited Edition on Canvas

Sacrament by Victor Bregeda depicts the scene of the Last Supper, where Jesus ate with his disciples before He was crucified. The twelve disciples are portrayed as ships, who will set sail with their message to the world. Christ is represented by the flame of the candle, which also sits upon a sailing vessel. The perspective of the scene places the viewer at the head of the table, with bread and the wine before him.

If you have not been to church for a while and wish to reconnect with God, this weekend is a great opportunity to do so. Many people are able to draw a parable of their own lives and faith journey from the observances of Easter church services. Through the celebration of Jesus’s suffering and resurrection in liturgy and symbol, these services become a powerful proclamation of the transformative power of the Gospel, and God’s work in our lives.

Searching for Truth in Bregeda Art

in News / by sinitsin
March 4, 2016

Throughout history, people have studied the biblical message in search of wisdom, meaning and truth. There are far more questions than answers which is perhaps why we continue on our pursuit to gain understanding.

Victor channels this quest in much of his art. There are many hidden elements that he uses to depict our quest in knowledge attainment. There are two paintings in particular that showcase these feelings in a most eloquent approach.

The first artwork is called, “In Search of Truth.” It is a remarkable, visual story that portrays a human’s pursuit of answers to eternal questions – What is truth? Where can it be found?

Bregeda sets the stage as an abstract landscape of books, representing the sum of all knowledge. We observe several men on a philosophical mission to study the infinite texts. Can truth be found in the knowledge?

We see several ladders that are Bregeda’s symbols of both mental and spiritual growth. You will see these in much of his work. In this painting, Bregeda steps away from his traditional depiction of God the Father and introduces us to the luminescent image of God’s presence – the face of Truth.

This painting denotes the same journey that Victor has traveled over his lifetime. This has led him to the creation of many profound artworks, in reflection of his faith.

The next artwork is appropriately titled, “Ever Learning.” The full title of this painting comes from 2 Timothy 3:7 “Always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

People have relied upon biblical text to show them the way. However, many have missed the essence of the teaching – salvation through Christ. The artist, with an easel, is the only one who sees the image of the Savior, while everyone else remains hopelessly lost.

The bread and wine composition, commonly found in many of Bregeda’s faith-inspired paintings, is a depiction of Communion with the Lord. The face of Christ is masked along the edges of the biblical texts. Three beautiful roses, accompanied by an angel, have taken place of the crown of thorns. We again spot the ladders that signify the continued pursuit of knowledge and wisdom.

Searching for deeper meaning and truth has been an ongoing pursuit throughout history. It is apparent that we still have a long way to go on our voyage of greater understanding. But it is a wonderful treat to watch as part of the journey unfolds in Victor’s artwork.

Hidden Faces in Bregeda Paintings

in News / by sinitsin
November 6, 2015

Art is an impactful means of expression meant to deliver emotion into the eyes of its viewer. Victor is a master of channeling a range of feelings through the use of his artwork. If you are an avid follower of Victor’s, you know the importance of taking your time with each of his paintings. There are many hidden elements that are not always visible at first glance.

There are two paintings in particular that really possess that “wow” factor that many of us wish to experience when viewing art. In these paintings, Victor magnifies his story lines with hidden images that take these depictions to a profound level!

The first artwork is called Return to Paradise. This painting depicts the artist’s surrealistic view of the concepts of sin and salvation, leaving us with the thought- if paradise is lost, can we ever really return?

The focal point is the red apple, which symbolizes the first sin committed by Adam and Eve. In this painting, Victor uses the landscape elements to depict the two faces of Adam and Eve, in profile, looking at an apple.

On the pathway, small human figures are pushing a huge red apple up the mountain. This symbolizes that once taken from the tree of wisdom, the apple should be brought back to paradise.

Victor implies that the viewer can consider him or herself as a part of this picture and part of this plight. The line of the pathway, at the edge of the painting, can be virtually continued toward the viewer, inviting us to join the journey.

That’s a lot of detail and emotion rolled into one painting! Don’t you think?

In a separate artwork titled In Search of Truth, we are introduced to more hidden images that guide us down a deeper path to understanding.

In Search of Truth is a remarkable, visual story that portrays a human’s pursuit of answers to eternal questions – What is truth? Where can it be found?

Bregeda sets the stage as an abstract landscape of books, representing the sum of all knowledge. We observe several men on a philosophical mission to study the infinite texts. Can truth be found in the knowledge?

We see several ladders-that are used as Bregeda’s symbols of both mental and spiritual growth. However, some of the other symbols are not so straightforward.

It is impossible to conclude whether we are looking at the rugged mountainous terrain or the raging sea. Is the flying book being tossed down to the pile or is it merely drifting in the air? As with most Bregeda paintings, there are more questions than answers.

In this work, Bregeda steps away from his traditional depiction of God the Father and introduces us to the luminescent image of God’s presence – the face of Truth. Can you see it?

This painting denotes the same journey that Victor has traveled over his lifetime-the path of knowledge attainment. This track has inspired him on the creation of many insightful artworks, in reflection of his faith.

Isn’t it amazing that an artwork can possess such a story? It certainly enhances anyone’s passion for the craft and will most definitely make you look twice from now on to source all of these hidden cues!

The Season of Floral Paintings!

in News / by sinitsin
March 12, 2015

It’s that time of year again!

Nothing breathes love and life into our souls quite like a beautiful flower blooming the in the springtime. These magical wonders grace us every year and remind us of God’s beautiful work.

Victor Bregeda recognizes this beauty and has the ability to relay their magic upon canvas.

Did you know that lilacs are Victor’s favorite flower? You will see them pop of in much of his work.

Victor Bregeda, Lavender Dreams - Floral Paintings

In his painting entitled, Lavender Dreams, Victor shows how beautiful images are linked to each other and are continually flowing and shifting.

Seen here are the forms of the lilacs, transitioning into images of a horse and a parrot. The small, white butterflies bring thoughts of lightness and the freedom of flight.

Victor Bregeda, Lilacs Self-Portrait

Lilacs are also a beloved Russian flower of springtime, and are a personal favorite of Victor’s, as previously mentioned. This particular painting is titled directly after them.

Lilacs are associated with having survived the harsh, Russian winter, and embracing the fragrant blossoming of springtime.

This painting conveys the sense of joy experienced after going through difficult times and finally arriving to a place of beauty, ease, and freedom.

In the lower right, we see that multicolored butterflies have been released from a dark drawer to find comfort amongst the flowers.

Victor portrays himself upon the tabletop where he too he enjoys the lilacs.

We see from the ladder leading to his location that he has had a steep climb to arrive at this peaceful place.

Victor appears small in comparison to the two forces that he is observing- the lilacs, and the butterflies.

We see that Victor depicts himself as working on his self-portrait (painting on easel). He is taking a break from his work to clench a bouquet of lilacs for the woman that holds his heart.

Victor Bregeda, Lovely Lively Lilies

Our next painting is titled Lovely, Lively Lilies and is a definite change of pace from the previous two artworks.

Here, Victor takes us on a trip to another planet. It is in this place where the ground has formed from his art supplies- notice the tubes of paint and wooden palette.

Instead of trees, there stands a collection of easels in the distance. Nectar pours from the lovely lilies and forms exquisite, translucent women.  This usage is one of the most powerful aspects of the painting.

Victor’s emblem is planted in the ground, demonstrating his artistic domain. The artist’s pencil is poised over a blank sheet of paper, ready for Victor to unleash his creative genius.

Victor Bregeda, Moonlight Sonata

In a more romantic turn of events, we are introduced to Moonlight Sonata. This amorous artwork details the makings of a perfect evening.

Make it an evening where the moon shines bright upon your face as you become lost in the sounds of mellifluous music. You become entranced by your emotion and allow yourself to soar.

We look closer to find two, large bouquets of roses. These are the ultimate token of love and adoration.

A woman in love sits down to her piano. Her heart is full as she becomes lost in this moment of love.

She is surrounded by all that is beautiful and allows herself to drift from elation.

In this moment, she is completely satisfied.

Though each of these paintings present different ideas, they all share one common theme- beauty.

Whether being used as a turning of the season or as a gesture of love, they are positively impacting those who are being exposed.

With that said, when is the last time you stopped to smell the flowers?

Surreal Art Stories – Intense Moments

in News / by sinitsin
March 5, 2015

Victor Bregeda is a magnificent example of contemporary surrealism. Today we focus ourselves on the  beautiful Bregeda art that captures life moments when we are tested. These intense moments should be viewed as opportunities to grow.  We will discuss the paintings that showcase this force and can be considered inspiring.

Victor Bregeda, Leap of Faith

Our first artwork is titled Leap of Faith. The title to this powerful painting says it all.

The coffee mug and book suggest what started off as an ordinary morning. But then, our character sets out to break free from his routine. He no longer desires what is ordinary and seeks out something more. The windmill in the background promotes the winds of change. While the face hidden amongst the clouds, represents a simpler time-perhaps when our character was a young boy.

He refuses to remain stagnant another moment, like the sailors left drifting in the waters. He will take his chance. He will take his Leap of Faith.

Victor Bregeda, Lucky Number

Our next artwork is titled Lucky Number and is composed of two parts.

It opens to a regular game of pool. We see a man concentrating on what appears to be the final shot of the game. The look on his face and positioning of his hand suggest the power of the moment. The number seven is present on the final ball; symbolizing luck is on his side.

But wait; take notice of the small figure in the left corner.  It appears he is cheering our player on. Could this be his friend or mentor that recognizes the significance of this moment? Could this be the game changing shot that will lead him to his destiny?

Brace yourselves, folks. This is serious.

Victor Bregeda, Next Move

Next Move tells multiple stories in one, visual composition. The painting opens to an extreme moment, in the game of chess, between two men.

The first gentleman, on the right, seems to be in control of the match. He is chewing on his glasses and patiently awaiting his opponent’s next move. A small figure observes the scene from the above balcony. This is one of several examples of how Victor Bregeda applies his meta-realistic method to draw out thoughts and emotions of his characters.

The view of the other player is formed from a haze. This man is looking down upon the board in contemplation of his next move. In this moment, Bregeda introduces the second storyline. The hand of God resting atop the man’s head is the sign of the spiritual connection with our Creator. The chessboard comes to life with characters unfolding a life story.

This piece presents some insight as to how our life decisions are directed by God of the Universe. This notion brings about comfort in knowing that we are not alone on our paths or our next move.

Victor Bregeda, Setting the Stage

In Setting the Stage, Victor depicts nature in the form of a person made from flowers. He is playing chess with the constructs of humanity, represented by a person made from buildings.

The players are down to the end game, as most of the pieces are missing from the board. They now lie in a jumbled heap upon the tabletop. Each player has just one piece left remaining on the board. Although the chessboard stretches off to the limitless horizon, the players are in an enclosed room playing their game. Shown hanging on the wall of this room, is the yin-yang emblem, ancient symbol for the interaction of opposites, each containing an element of the other.

Similarly, Victor shows the person made of buildings as wearing a flower boutonniere, and the person made of flowers containing a small building. The implication is that the friction between nature and human progress is also a union of opposites, such as yin and yang. Is it possible for the two to coexist in peaceful unity?

Each of these artworks represents a powerful message. Although much of the undertone is discreet, it is undeniable. These intense moments shape our lives. They guide us down our daily paths and eventually to our destiny…

Art Stories- The Place of Dreams

in News / by sinitsin
February 28, 2015

When every day life seems monotonous and predictable, people tend to rely on their subconscious for creativity and inspiration.

The mind is a powerful force when it comes to concocting an alternative reality. Victor channels this ability in many of his paintings.

Victor Bregeda, High Hopes

This first painting is called High Hopes. It plays a huge part on the importance of imagination.

Our character is seemingly carrying out a dream in which anything is possible.

He leads his airborne ship along the coast, perhaps waiting for it to take flight. The boats in the distance appear to be attempting landfall. Perhaps, they would like to gain a closer view of such a vision.

Although this man seems tired and worn, he is faithful to his quest and to his ship.

He will continue his subliminal journey.

Victor Bregeda, On Top of the World

On Top of the World is an awesome painting that showcases a new perspective on the world we know.

Our planet proves small and underwhelming in comparison to the vast universe that awaits us just outside of our comfort zone.

The rips in the canvas tease us, exposing us to a lush exterior we have not ever seen.

This leads us to the metaphoric understanding of the great things that loom when we shed our fear of the unknown and welcome a bigger picture into our hearts and minds.

When we finally find ourselves capable of this, we will find our peace On Top of the World.

Victor Bregeda, The Dream

Victor’s original name for his painting, The Dream, was The Twilight Cats of Haruki Murakami.

Murakami is a great Japanese surrealist author. In Kafka on the Shore, one of the characters, Satoru Nakata, has a job searching for lost cats because he has the rare ability to converse with them.

Cats frequently figure in Murakami’s fiction as delegates from another world.  Victor portrays them here as guides or conduits bridging the world of day-to-day reality and the unconscious world of dreams.

All men in the painting are wearing tall, pointed hats. There are many sleeping faces visible in the stones of the wall.

This painting suggests coexistence among: the dream and reality state, artist and viewer and conscious and subconscious.

Victor Bregeda, Pipe Dreams

In Pipe Dreams, we see a pipe with clear bubbles arising from it, thus symbolizing our dreams and fantasies.

To progress from dreaming into entering another reality, is by no means an easy feat. We face multiple obstacles where we must cross a rift and ascend rough and uneven stairs. We have the choice to continue dreaming or seek reality.

This painting, along with On Top of the World, are companion pieces. They are of two different worlds, which are interconnected. Each painting focuses on one world, and also shows a path to take for the other.

The blue and green space depicted in Pipe Dreams, is a close-up of the tropical rain forest present in On Top of the World. You see a glimpse of this where the dry surface has been peeled back. The doorway within Pipe Dreams opens up and leads to the desert-like world presented in On Top of the World.

The origin of mysterious faces in the haze is yet to be explained…

The subconscious is an awesome creation that allows us to be taken places we are unable to view in reality.

We can envision and alter our dreams to take form of what we wish to view.

What an extraordinary gift!

Are Stories-Knowledge

in News / by sinitsin
February 20, 2015

Victor Bregeda uses subtle cues within his art to showcase the importance of knowledge attainment. Often times, you will spot books and ladders throughout his paintings. Regardless of its seeming displacement, these objects are not there by accident.

Victor uses these two everyday items as symbols for both education and growth.

This week, we will explore his strong usage of knowledge as a showcase in art form.

Victor Bregeda - In Search of Truth

Let’s begin with an artwork called In Search of Truth. This is a remarkable, visual story that portrays a human’s pursuit of answers to eternal questions – What is truth? Where can it be found?

Bregeda sets the stage as an abstract landscape of books, representing the sum of all knowledge. We observe several men on a philosophical mission to study the infinite texts. Can truth be found in the knowledge?

As mentioned previously, we see several ladders that reflect Bregeda’s symbols of both mental and spiritual growth.

In this work, Bregeda steps away from his traditional depiction of God the Father and introduces us to the luminescent image of God’s presence – the face of Truth.

This piece denotes the same journey that Victor has traveled over his lifetime. This has led him to the creation of many profound artworks, in reflection of his faith.

Victor Bregeda has been exploring the human pursuit of knowledge throughout his artistic career.

Victor Bregeda, Tree of Knowledge

Tree of Knowledge takes this Bregeda tradition to the next level with a multipart philosophical vision that is united by one overarching idea.

A viewer’s journey begins with an observation of a tasteful still life arrangement: the wooden table, the stack of books, and a bouquet of roses tucked in the table’s drawer.

The lightweight drape, covering the table, and the books serve as a divider that takes the viewer beyond the still life into the twilight of a serene landscape.

The drape turns into a lake and rushes down from the table’s edge like a waterfall, as boats float peacefully in the distance.

The viewing sequence of these visual elements is not unintentional. Both scenic realms, the still life and the landscape, take the viewer on a journey around the canvas and culminate at the majestic tree in the center.

Devoid of leaves, the tree is bearing the book of knowledge in its crown. The branches skillfully conceal the silhouettes of the three faces. The first one rests his chin on the water surface, while the other two are hidden in the branches piercing through the book.

The linkage to the Garden of Eden exists and is supported by the apple and the roses, which add a touch of feminine presence to the scene.

However, the main idea of knowledge searching is exposed through the eyes of the person within the painting. He has searched human wisdom in the books and has discovered spiritual meaning in the tree.

Now, he is standing in front of a white canvas wondering how to apply this knowledge to his life.

Victor Bregeda, Practice of Consciousness

Practice of Consciousness (aka The Secret Knowledge Place) is a philosophical look at the union of mind and soul resulting in creative work as previously seen in Tree of Knowledge.

The book once again symbolizes knowledge and serves as the foundation for the composition.

The pipe represents the meditative state of reflection.

The ladder appears again as Bregeda’s traditional symbol of spiritual growth.

The man with a matchstick is an artist. He has ignited the pipe. The smoke begins to float upward and shapes into God’s image, thus revealing a spiritual connection.

A blank canvas is set upon the easel (similar to Tree of Knowledge), looking out upon a scenic view.

God, in the form of a cloud, looks upon His creation.

The moment of mediation and reflection is here. It’s time to get to artistic work.

Victor Bregeda, Scholar's Quest

Our next painting Scholar’s Quest, delves a bit deeper into the history of knowledge and how it merges with the creation of new ideas.

The books, making up the landscape, contain all information that has ever Existed.

This is the memory of humanity throughout history- all that we have learned and all we are experiencing.

The wooden bridges and ladders between the books represent how one book points to another, leading to the infinite horizon-further suggesting limitless knowledge.

This makes a powerful point to the fact that one can always be learning.

So, have you started to notice a theme? Yes!

There are ever-present books and ladders throughout all of these paintings. They prove to be a subtle cue with very deliberate meaning.

You should also know that these are not the only paintings that have these objects present.

Make sure you take your time now when viewing Victor’s paintings. You might just see a ladder or book hidden somewhere.

Now, you know can impress your friends with your newfound knowledge!

Art Stories-Man and Woman

in News / by sinitsin
February 12, 2015

Contact us for purchase inquires

With Valentine’s Day this week, we decided to make our blog topic center around a man and a woman. Victor is no stranger to displaying this subject on canvas. In fact, he has an entire collection devoted to it.

Victor Bregeda, Imagination

We will begin with Imagination.  Through creativity, we are able to look beyond the everyday and witness something extraordinary.

Something has happened to our boatman.

A man in love glides along the stream, swept away by nature’s feminine beauty.

We focus on the voluptuous figure that has emerged from the land and trees. She represents a soft elegance that has enchanted our character.

It would appear his imagination has taken him to the idea of a woman’s loveliness and he has become completely captivated.

Victor Bregeda, Garden of Love

Our next artwork is Garden of Love. This is a painting that expresses the tender affection of a man towards a woman. It centers on a beautiful flower, symbolizing the blossoming of both beauty and love.

Upon careful observation, the flower emerges as a gorgeous woman in need of nurture.

In this man’s life, this is always his woman to love. We see the man is taking care of his flowers and cherishing the thought of her.

She is his responsibility.

Bregeda, Admirers

Speaking of thinking of a woman, our next painting attempts to answer the age-old question of What Women Want.

The central element of the composition is the apple with a woman’s face formed out of a bite. The apple symbolizes knowledge based on the Biblical tradition for the fruit of knowledge.

The face signifies the mysterious feminine nature. Combined together, the apple and the face, represent the complexity of understanding a woman.

The men in the picture are waiting in line to get their answers. They desperately try to dialog with the woman, craving to know what is on her mind, but instead are only left with more questions.

The candle stick balances the visual objects of the painting and adds fragility by its positioning upon the edge of the table.

The small image of the woman, built from the wax of the candle serves as the emotional amplifier for the men leaving the scene.

What Women Want is an eloquent, visual expression of the eternal question that may never be answered…

Bregeda, Celestial Symphony

Celestial Symphony is a bit more forthcoming. Music has always been a means of expression, especially when it comes to romance.

Here on earth, the music of the violin reflects the sounds of the heavenly realms. When listening to an extraordinary symphony, our consciousness is flooded with memories and passionate emotions.

Rational thought brings us back from our daydream, as represented by the books stacked to the side.

We are engulfed in a wave of emotions as we drift along the rising waters.

Victor Bregeda, Final Touch

It only seems right to have our last painting be called Final Touch.

We see God’s smiling face in the luxuriant hillside on the right side of the painting. He looks upon his creation of the world with pleasure- now that he has added the final touch.

Upon the tabletop, are the traditional fruit and wine components of a still life. The wine bottle has a ripened look to it, covered with moss and appearing to have emerged from the earth itself.

The tabletop is simultaneously part of the earth and part of the sea, representing a transitional dimension.

The paper pieces seem to be unfolding and turning into sailing ships as they recede in the distance. They represent the many paths, options, and possibilities open in the future.

The final touch is the woman being splashed upon the canvas by man’s twirling wine glass.

This is the perfect toast to the feminine energy making way to balance out that of the man’s.

Each of these beautiful artworks sets the scene in the play of life.

The man and woman experience the wonderment and unknowing of the other along the the way.

Hope you all enjoy your holiday!

Art Stories-Illusions

in News / by sinitsin
February 5, 2015

Art is capable of many things. One of the most captivating though is its ability to surprise you. Victor Bregeda specializes in the art of illusion. Many of his paintings contain hidden objects that can only be uncovered upon close review.

Here are a few of some of our favorite trickeries!

Victor Bregeda, Hidden Beauty

In Hidden Beauty, Victor Bregeda blends two distinct and visual narratives into one powerful story. The painting opens up as a delightful landscape in the twilight of the approaching night.

We get the perspective of a calm shoreline with distant boats, enjoying the peaceful tranquility of the moment. The stillness in the air coupled with the soothing colors of the sunset; evoke a longing to leap forward into this wondrous place.

The spirit of the painting revolves around the magnificent and unusual trees. The two sister-trees on the front dominate the picture by drawing attention away from the blissful panorama. The most evident clue to this mystery is suggested in the broken tree, to the left, shaped as a man’s face.

Another hint comes from the three butterflies in the middle that project the essence of feminine presence. There is a subtle discovery of a man’s face carved from the tree branches.

Finally, the two big trees conceal a gorgeous woman. Her shapes are elusively translucent in the backdrop of nature.

They open view into her inner-world, complemented by the beauty of her scenic surrounding.

Hidden Beauty is the combination of inner and outer womanly splendor presented through this pleasing perspective of both time and space.

Victor Bregeda, Hat Tip

In our next artwork, Hat Tip, chivalry is no longer considered a thing of the past.

Across the ages, tipping your hat has been a notable act of men to display their respect and gratitude towards others – especially when in pursuit of a woman. It is meant as a warm greeting and has proven to be a timeless act.

In this particular artwork, you will find two hidden faces-one much more concealed than the other. We see two men lifting their hats to mark their adoration of the beautiful woman and admiration of her suitor.

Hint: To find the second face, you may have to turn the painting.

Victor Bregeda, Soul To Soul

Soul To Soul is a picture of elegant simplicity. The picture opens up to a beautiful day near the beach. It closes in on the view of a hummingbird feeding upon a flower.

The plants, the sky and sea arouse the feelings of both freshness and relaxation.

But wait; in classic Bregeda fashion, the scene unfolds into a veiled passage.

The plants disguise themselves as faces of a man and a woman. They are leaning towards each other on the brink of a kiss.

A viewer can enjoy the nature scene in this painting and be perfectly satisfied without ever recognizing the faces. However, once the dual meaning is unlocked, the romance of the couple takes center stage.

Victor Bregeda, Romancing the Rose

Romancing the Rose also uses flowers as a disguise for hidden meaning.

The Rose is a beautiful woman who is flourishing from attention. The laboring men at the top right are working tirelessly to capture her heart. They will do anything for her consideration.

Some have managed to get closer to her beauty, only to be denied by her guarded objections. The man with a ladder at the bottom is about to start his journey, unaware of the rejection of those who came before him.

The irony is that the Rose is longing for a romantic hero who can unlock her heart. The gentleman with a fresh bouquet on the left is different from everyone else.

However, one thing is for sure, the Rose is starting to awake. Will this be the moment when she lets go of her fears and finally accepts love? Or, will she choose to turn away and remain forever as only a subject of man’s adoration?

These hidden illusions make Victor’s art so fascinating. It is imperative for the viewer to always take their time in an effort not to miss all that it has to offer!

Art Stories-Majestic Landscapes

in News / by sinitsin
January 31, 2015

Often times, art can be used as an opportunity to escape from the hectic world around us. It can give us a moment of solitude and serenity just by studying a canvas. Victor Bregeda specializes in channeling this calming emotion by his visions of majestic landscapes. These paintings allow the viewer to rest and reflect on all of the beauty that surrounds us. We want to introduce you to a few of these artworks in hopes that you can experience that moment of tranquility that you so deserve.

Victor Bregeda, Gone Fishing

The first of these paintings is Gone Fishing. What better stress reliever than relaxing upon calm waters and allowing yourself to become one with nature?

Our character begins to drift into a sweet dream that is seen as his surroundings take surreal shapes. He takes solace in a lone standing tree, making himself at home in a cozy bird’s nest. This is the perfect depiction of a quiet, blissful day that everyone needs to experience once in a while.

Victor Bregeda, Still Life Flight

Our next painting is titled Still Life Flight. There are multiple levels to this work by combining still life, seascape and landscape characteristics.

This artwork is an abstract landscape of a vast, blue plain stretching to the mountains. A man pulling a flying ship across the fluorescent sky guides the scene.

Bregeda implies that ordinary and seemingly unrelated elements of life can coexist in multiple realities with different meanings in this unconventional painting.

Victor Bregeda, Game Over

Game Over is another multidimensional work. This painting incorporates the age-old game of Chess as a metaphor for the passing of time.

Notice the board beneath the lush landscape. Some of the pieces lie amongst the land, now out of use and overgrown. It appears the man is leading the horse off of the board. The wine bottle stands in the distance, now empty.

Take time to recognize the aged faces lost amongst the brightly colored sky.

The game is now over. It is time to move on…

Victor Bregeda, Earth Angel

This next one is a very powerful painting. Earth Angel depicts an angel built into the earth with houses resting upon her shoulders and back. Her hair and wings are protectively encompassing the dwellings. Above her is the Sky Angel with several smaller angels hovering like birds.

In the foreground, you can see Victor painting at his easel. It is where Victor portrays the conception that the Kingdom of God is all around us. Our guardian angels are no further than the earth beneath our feet.

Victor Bregeda, Respect Equals Balance

Our final artwork has an important message in both the title and the painting. It is Respect=Balance.

This painting was inspired by Victor’s visit to Sedona, Arizona, in the spring of 2006.

At the center of the painting, Victor shows an Indian spirit formed from the smoke of the peace pipe. To the right, we see another spirit in the form of the land.

The calmness of the artwork is designed to relay the message of maintaining peace in all aspects of life.

It is our hope that in viewing these paintings, you will be subject to the calming mindset that is necessary to soothe the soul.

Rest easy, friends!
