With Valentine’s Day this week, we decided to make our blog topic center around a man and a woman. Victor is no stranger to displaying this subject on canvas. In fact, he has an entire collection devoted to it.
We will begin with Imagination. Through creativity, we are able to look beyond the everyday and witness something extraordinary.
Something has happened to our boatman.
A man in love glides along the stream, swept away by nature’s feminine beauty.
We focus on the voluptuous figure that has emerged from the land and trees. She represents a soft elegance that has enchanted our character.
It would appear his imagination has taken him to the idea of a woman’s loveliness and he has become completely captivated.
Our next artwork is Garden of Love. This is a painting that expresses the tender affection of a man towards a woman. It centers on a beautiful flower, symbolizing the blossoming of both beauty and love.
Upon careful observation, the flower emerges as a gorgeous woman in need of nurture.
In this man’s life, this is always his woman to love. We see the man is taking care of his flowers and cherishing the thought of her.
She is his responsibility.
Speaking of thinking of a woman, our next painting attempts to answer the age-old question of What Women Want.
The central element of the composition is the apple with a woman’s face formed out of a bite. The apple symbolizes knowledge based on the Biblical tradition for the fruit of knowledge.
The face signifies the mysterious feminine nature. Combined together, the apple and the face, represent the complexity of understanding a woman.
The men in the picture are waiting in line to get their answers. They desperately try to dialog with the woman, craving to know what is on her mind, but instead are only left with more questions.
The candle stick balances the visual objects of the painting and adds fragility by its positioning upon the edge of the table.
The small image of the woman, built from the wax of the candle serves as the emotional amplifier for the men leaving the scene.
What Women Want is an eloquent, visual expression of the eternal question that may never be answered…
Celestial Symphony is a bit more forthcoming. Music has always been a means of expression, especially when it comes to romance.
Here on earth, the music of the violin reflects the sounds of the heavenly realms. When listening to an extraordinary symphony, our consciousness is flooded with memories and passionate emotions.
Rational thought brings us back from our daydream, as represented by the books stacked to the side.
We are engulfed in a wave of emotions as we drift along the rising waters.
It only seems right to have our last painting be called Final Touch.
We see God’s smiling face in the luxuriant hillside on the right side of the painting. He looks upon his creation of the world with pleasure- now that he has added the final touch.
Upon the tabletop, are the traditional fruit and wine components of a still life. The wine bottle has a ripened look to it, covered with moss and appearing to have emerged from the earth itself.
The tabletop is simultaneously part of the earth and part of the sea, representing a transitional dimension.
The paper pieces seem to be unfolding and turning into sailing ships as they recede in the distance. They represent the many paths, options, and possibilities open in the future.
The final touch is the woman being splashed upon the canvas by man’s twirling wine glass.
This is the perfect toast to the feminine energy making way to balance out that of the man’s.
Each of these beautiful artworks sets the scene in the play of life.
The man and woman experience the wonderment and unknowing of the other along the the way.
Hope you all enjoy your holiday!
