Hidden Faces in Bregeda Paintings

in News / by sinitsin

Art is an impactful means of expression meant to deliver emotion into the eyes of its viewer. Victor is a master of channeling a range of feelings through the use of his artwork. If you are an avid follower of Victor’s, you know the importance of taking your time with each of his paintings. There are many hidden elements that are not always visible at first glance.

There are two paintings in particular that really possess that “wow” factor that many of us wish to experience when viewing art. In these paintings, Victor magnifies his story lines with hidden images that take these depictions to a profound level!

The first artwork is called Return to Paradise. This painting depicts the artist’s surrealistic view of the concepts of sin and salvation, leaving us with the thought- if paradise is lost, can we ever really return?

The focal point is the red apple, which symbolizes the first sin committed by Adam and Eve. In this painting, Victor uses the landscape elements to depict the two faces of Adam and Eve, in profile, looking at an apple.

On the pathway, small human figures are pushing a huge red apple up the mountain. This symbolizes that once taken from the tree of wisdom, the apple should be brought back to paradise.

Victor implies that the viewer can consider him or herself as a part of this picture and part of this plight. The line of the pathway, at the edge of the painting, can be virtually continued toward the viewer, inviting us to join the journey.

That’s a lot of detail and emotion rolled into one painting! Don’t you think?

In a separate artwork titled In Search of Truth, we are introduced to more hidden images that guide us down a deeper path to understanding.

In Search of Truth is a remarkable, visual story that portrays a human’s pursuit of answers to eternal questions – What is truth? Where can it be found?

Bregeda sets the stage as an abstract landscape of books, representing the sum of all knowledge. We observe several men on a philosophical mission to study the infinite texts. Can truth be found in the knowledge?

We see several ladders-that are used as Bregeda’s symbols of both mental and spiritual growth. However, some of the other symbols are not so straightforward.

It is impossible to conclude whether we are looking at the rugged mountainous terrain or the raging sea. Is the flying book being tossed down to the pile or is it merely drifting in the air? As with most Bregeda paintings, there are more questions than answers.

In this work, Bregeda steps away from his traditional depiction of God the Father and introduces us to the luminescent image of God’s presence – the face of Truth. Can you see it?

This painting denotes the same journey that Victor has traveled over his lifetime-the path of knowledge attainment. This track has inspired him on the creation of many insightful artworks, in reflection of his faith.

Isn’t it amazing that an artwork can possess such a story? It certainly enhances anyone’s passion for the craft and will most definitely make you look twice from now on to source all of these hidden cues!
