Ever Learning was recently on display at the Museum of Biblical Art in Dallas, TX. The full title of this painting comes from 2 Timothy 3:7 “Always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
Throughout history, people have studied the biblical message in search of clues and hidden meanings. However, many have missed the essence of the teaching – salvation through Christ. The artist, with an easel, is the only one who sees the image of the Savior, while everyone else remains hopelessly lost.
The bread and wine composition, commonly found in many of Bregeda’s faith-inspired paintings, is a depiction of Communion with the Lord. The face of Christ is masked along the edges of the biblical texts. Three beautiful roses, accompanied by an angel, have taken place of the crown of thorns. The ladders signify the continued pursuit of knowledge and wisdom.
