This painting brings the Russian Orthodox motif of an Easter celebration. A caravan of peasants carries enormous boiled eggs to be dyed, according to the Russian tradition.
On the left side, a mysterious face is engraved on the cliff wall. The interpretation of its meaning is left to the observer.
The scene is saturated with the luminescent colors of blue sky, and what looks like a bright window on the wall. A lonely windmill, on the edge of the hillside, creates perfect balance in the middle of the composition.
