This artwork was inspired by Susana and the Elders (Susana y los Viejos), masterpiece by Tintoretto (Jacopo Robusti, (1518–94)), Italian master representing the Venetian school of Italian Renaissance.
Other Renaissance and Baroque painters have contributed to illustrating the story of Susanna. Among them we find Henner, Pagani, Lapchenko, Guercino, Reni, Ismailowitsch, Varotori, Van Vriendt, Rembrandt, Rubens, Reni, Van Vriendt, Alessandro Varotari, Alessandro Allori, Vallotton, Valerio Valerio, Jacob Jordaens, Jacopo Bassano, Jacopo Chimenti, Artemisia Gentileschi, Lorenzo Lotto, Rembrandt van Rijn, Van Dyck, Franz Von Stuck, Paolo Veronese, Albrecht Altdorfer….
Also, known as “Contemplations Through Smoking Pipe,” this painting has been recognized by many as one of the “coolest” Bregeda surrealist works.
